What Is Your WHY?

Do you ever had those days when you just don't feel like doing what needs to be done? Doubt creeps in, and you start to question if you're even on the right path.

It's a feeling many of us know all too well. During these moments, reflecting on your "WHY" can make all the difference.

Understanding the deeper reasons behind your actions can reignite your motivation and clarity.

I have actually been working on mine for about a year!  Digging deep to uncover this "WHY" can be a real challenge. After a meeting yesterday, I woke up with clarity I have not been able to find.

After pouring my heart out (to myself while journaling) I got the bright idea that there just might be a Custom GPT out there to get you started.   And guess what!?  I found one!

So I tried it and it was actually really close to the thoughts I woke up to!

Check out this "WHY" Custom GPT that uses Simon Sinek’s concepts to get you on the right path!

Discovering My Why: An Ongoing Journey to Empowerment

For 20 years, I worked as a brain and spinal cord injury bedside nurse.  When people found out, their response was almost always the same.  “How do you do that” or “It must be horrible to see that every day” They were unable to see the real gift of this opportunity.

There are people on this Earth today because of ME!  Every day I had the privilege to hold someone’s hand and help them navigate one of the darkest times in their life.  I got to witness and contribute to the resilience of the human spirit. The experience gave me a profound understanding of human vulnerability and showed me the incredible strength that can emerge from tragedy.

While at the bedside, I discovered another need.  Families needed a short-term place to live when the temporary housing provided by the hospital ended.  These people were already living in constant fear.  Not only did they fear the uncertainty of the acute well-being of their loved one but were terrified of what this catastrophic injury meant for their future.

This was at least one worry I could remove for them.  Air BnB did not exist, so I created it for them.  The relief it brought to them and the gratitude they had threw a little dirt in the hole in me that I didn’t know I was trying to fill.

As the years went on, I started several businesses and failed at most of them.  I realized that I could have 10,000 brilliant ideas, but if nobody knows about them, those ideas are worthless.  After thinking that getting an MBA was the solution, I discovered that LEARNING is not the master key, but taking those lessons and DOING is.  Within failure lie the biggest lessons.

Fail, Evaluate, Correct and GET YOUR ASS BACK IN THE GAME!

Now I want to take what I have learned and share it with you all.  Through the Disabled Business Leaders of America, I aim to build a community of proactive leaders that are determined to succeed despite the challenges they face every day.

But…To be able to do that effectively I knew I would need to dig deep and find my WHY.

The Disabled Business Leaders of America is my way of continuing to throw dirt into that hole, but now I know WHY I am doing it.

In reflecting on my journey, I uncovered a truth that had been guiding me all along:

My WHY is about creating stability for those that needed most, driven by my passion for real estate and marketing and is fueled by the gratitude of those I help and the impact I know my efforts make.

It is driven by my passion for real estate and marketing, and the fulfillment that comes from seeing lives transformed. This realization has not only reaffirmed my commitment to my work but has also provided me with a renewed sense of purpose.

The Importance of Finding Your Why

Finding your "why" is crucial to achieving lasting success and fulfillment. It provides a clear sense of purpose and direction, guiding your actions and decisions. When you understand your "why," you gain resilience in the face of challenges and a deeper sense of motivation to pursue your goals.

In conclusion, discovering your "why" is a transformative journey that can lead to profound personal and professional growth. It will anchor you to your core values and will fuel your passion.  While the road to discovery can be rocky, it is a journey worth undertaking.
